Loving God - Loving Each Other
The Filling Station is part of a wider movement to bring Christians of all denominations (and none) together in worship and service, which was started 10 years ago by Rev Richard Fothergill and now has over 100 meetings taking place throughout the UK and abroad. see website
Our local Wishaw Filling Station was set up two years ago by our minister and his wife, Terry and Sabah. It is supported by Wishaw Churches Together and, up until the coronavirus hit, met on the last Wednesday of the month from 7-9 PM in the Aroma Café on Stewarton Street, Wishaw. It was amazing to see so many people from different churches and denominations around the area gathering together. And the owner and staff at the Aroma have been wonderfully supportive in every way.
Then Covid-19 hit! However, undaunted by the first lockdown measures, we were the first of all of the Filling Station’s to livestream a meeting in place of our regular one at the Aroma. This was very much appreciated but as the year wore on, and wore us all down, people became Zoomed-out and so we reduced the number of online meetings before stopping them altogether after the Christmas Unwrapped special in December featuring Sir Cliff Richard and Sir David Suchet.
The hope is that our meetings will be able to resume when things are back to 'normal', whenever and whatever that might be. Meanwhile the local Filling Station Team are looking at ways of taking forward this ministry including its content, format and venue.
Whatever is decided, it is wonderful to be a part of the Filling Station family and to have attended the Refuel Festival in Fochabers in 2019 with Stations from around the UK. The 2020 festival had to be cancelled but we look forward to the next one in 2021. see website
